Abstract

Atomistic simulation is becoming a more and more powerful tool in understanding the properties of soft matter materials. In the present talk, I will discuss two projects we have been working recently: one on faceted vesicles and one on Diamide Extraction. Faceted vesicles root their potential application in nanocontainer, which is stable over environments (such as salt). Our work investigated the effect of pH on the crystalline structure of the planar walls of faceted vesicles. Diamide Extraction has been developed to refine used nuclear fuel, e.g., trivalent actinide. The aggregation behavior is studied in explaining the advantages of the second generation extraction over the first generation.
